We are taking part in the Galaxy Hot Chocolate Fund, in which £300 is given away to voluntary and community groups once a week throughout the winter. We would be hugely grateful if could follow the link below (click “Read More” if you can’t see it) and vote for DDVSAS so we are in with a chance of winning one of these prizes. We intend to spend the money on an activity day or trip away for the children staying in our refuges.
We would very much like to thank Dronfield Baptist Church for their kind donation of £146. This money was raised from their Coffee Pot events in October. This donation will prove very valuable in supporting clients over the difficult Christmas period.
The Mothers’ Union are holding a candlelit vigil to remember victims of domestic abuse, tying in with the 16 days of activism against gender violence. This will be held at the Church of St Mary and All Saints (the “Crooked Spire”) in Chesterfield at 5pm on Tuesday 6th December. All are welcome!
We have need of an artificial Christmas tree, 5-6ft tall, by the end of this week (18th November), as part of raising awareness of the Christmas tree festivals taking place in Chesterfield. If you are able to donate a tree, or can point us in the direction of someone who can, please call our agency line on 01246 540464. Thank you!
We are delighted to announce that our men’s refuge is now in a position to provide specialist support to men who are fleeing forced marriage or other cultural/honour-based forms of abuse.
